A couple weeks ago, I filmed a quick Fabric 101 reel highlighting the fabric of the Perfect Baby Cami. Watch it HERE.
So here's the thing: the video was originally 7 minutes long… but my friend told me to cut out most of it because no one cares. Lol. But the truth is, there was months and months of process behind conceptualizing the addictive-to-wear, buttery-soft, essential cotton jersey of the Perfect Baby Cami.
I do not want to bore people with a reel, so here’s a blog post detailing the unfiltered story behind the fabric—for any Berry who might be curious.

THE PROBLEM:
Why are we shelling out $$$ for tank tops so often cut from a fabric quality that rivals that of a crackhead’s shower towel? Girls all over the world, me included, have been getting scammed. Bamboozled. Fooled.
And we are sick of it.
Poor-quality fabric means it won’t be comfortable. If it’s not comfortable, I’m not wearing it. Sorry. I don’t care how good it looks. I’m not going to wear it.
It’s true: It’s difficult to find decent-quality basic tops at an affordable price point. But it’s not impossible: Think Aritzia, Brandy, Nordstrom’s.
But it is IMPOSSIBLE to find a slogan baby tee brand that consistently delivers high-quality fabric. Such a brand does not exist.
Actually, I can think of one, but the tops are $100+ each. Eggs are $12 (those poor chickens…) who has the ability to shell out $100+ on a crop top right now!?
My dream? Create a line of original slogan tops, priced at a normal price-point, cut from fabric that’s not just good—it’s amazing. Addictive. Yummy. Cult-obsession worthy.
THE PROCESS
When I set out to create this top, I had an extremely specific vision of exactly how the ideal fabric must feel on bare skin: sexy, casual, buttery, smooth, light, airy-yet-sculpted.
So I literally pulled 20ish of my favorite-material tees and tops with a similar feel from my closet and arranged them on my bedroom floor. I studied the tags of each for the material composition.
Every single one was 95% cotton, 5% elastane.
This composition is typical cotton jersey. Cotton jersey is known for its breathability, comfort, softness, and stretch—popular choice for lounge, activewear, t-shirts, casual dresses, and the like. Skims, for example, primarily uses cotton jersey.
So, when it was time to order samples from manufacturers, I requested the highest possible quality 95% cotton, 5% elastane blend—with varying weights in GSMs (grams per square meter). I went back and forth with multiple manufacturers till I found it—IT.
THE PERFECT FABRIC:
I can’t believe it’s not butter.
I audibly screamed the first time I touched the fabric of what would become the Perfect Baby Cami. It’s exactly what I dreamed up in my head. No, to be honest, it’s even better.
I’ve been obsessed with clothes all my life. I’ve owned hundreds of pieces of clothing. In college, I’d eat pretzels for 5 days straight and totally skip real meals so I can spend my money on clothes. I HAVE ISSUES, BUT THE TABLES HAVE TURNED BECAUSE I FORCED MY ISSUES TO WORK TO MY FAVOR.
The point? From the second my child-sized hands touch a fabric, I just know. I know when it’s good material.
And this material is perfection. There’s literally nothing like this material in my closet. It’s better than my $200 tank tops from SSENSE and Farfetch. And many Berries who have modeled, purchased, or experienced the top tell me the same thing.

Cut from midweight cotton jersey, equal parts soft and sculpted. Think: Slipping into an ultra-sculpted cloud. 95% cotton, 5% elastane
- THE LOOK: Slim-fitted, on-the-go, up for anything.

- THE CARE: Washer/dryer tested. In our tests, the cami responded well to traditional machine washer/dryer. If you'd like to be extra-safe, we recommend washing on medium or low spin, and laying flat to dry to respect the lettering.
